St. Francisville Inn - B&B
Prior falling to an abandon home, the Wolf-Schlesinger House (St. Francisville Inn) also served as a doctor's office, boarding home and a merchants of 'Wolf' General Store which besides a large array of farming equipment and general mechandise, Mr. Wolf built and sold coffins.
In 1980, Florence and Richard Filet, discovered the Wolf-Schlesinger House in ruins and decided to restore the home back to its elegance. During the process of restoration it was decided to make a bed & breakfast. After finishing the mainhouse and three rooms extending off the house, kitchen and servant quarters, the Filets added a story, 6 room addition. Attached to the new addition to the mainhouse by porches, all the rooms open onto a brick courtyard.
The following and present owners of the Wolf-Schlesinger House (St. Francisville Inn), Patrick & Laurie Walsh, purchsed the home in 1990. Relocating from New Orleans, Laurie brought more than 15 years of hotel experience from the Hotel La Salle and the Monteleone Hotel in the French Quarter. Her husband, Patrick, worked ten years with Chevron as a Petroluem Engineer and produced two cookbooks, "Oil & Gastronomy" and "Breakfast at the Inn".
Along with experience and energy, the Walshes brought two very young children, a boy and girl. Their third and final child, was brought into the world as Hurricane Andrew was bearing down on Louisiana and evidently St. Francisville.
Under the Walshes, a swimming pool was added and more renovation to the grounds, rooms and mainhouse. At one time the Inn had a coffee shop and extensive antique shop and served all three meals a day. The newest addition is The Wine Parlor which offers a large selection (200 plus wines) and large selection of imported beer. Beverages are sold by the glass and/or bottle. Enjoy the porches, front & back, couryard and of course the parlor.
Breakfast is now the only meal served daily and has become a favorite to guest and locals. Lunch and dinner are not served daily but only to groups of 20 to 70 people with advanced reservations.
In addition to owning and operationing the Inn, Laurie is the Main Street manager for the town and Patrick runs a website Internet service company.
