Museums
Every plantation can be considered a museum by itself, the area also supports several other museums. From Historical Society museum, Angola State Penitentiary, West Feliciana Rail Road Caboose, Port Hudson battlefield to John James Audubon Museum, you will find all very interesting.

West Feliciana Historical Society & Information Center
*This museum is a must see, the heart and soul of St. Francisville Historic District. Located in the old hardware store circa 1896, the museum houses photographic exhibits, miniature recreation rooms, period clothing and flags of the area. Visitors can find information, brochures and directions. Admission is free. Open daily 9am-5pm Donations accepted.
Besides the Historical Society, the Tourist Commission and Main Street offices are located in the museum.

John James Audubon Museum
The 200-year-old Oakley House is where John James Audubon drew inspiration and sketched many of the birds found in his famous Birds of America. The visitor may tour the house-turned-museum, formal gardens, an outside kitchen building and barns, walk the trails and enjoy a picnic lunch at the large pavilion nearby. Website: Click Here

Louisiana State Penitentiary Museum Angola
The museum supports and promote the historical, educational, and cultural role of the Louisiana State Penitentiary. Exhibits, art, history. Free of charge, but accepting donations to defray cost of operations.

Port Hudson State Commemorative Area
Hike the six miles of well marked trails on this 899 acres of historic battlefield. Along the trails you will find three observation towers, an elevated broadwalk over the breastworks in the Fort Desperate Area, a museum, a picnic area and restrooms. And of course there are creeks, ponds, flora, and plenty of wildlife.
